Writing Prompt Friday (in the belly)

WPF

Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! Well, it’s January 17, and my Christmas tree is still up. The cat still keeps trying to climb it. The holiday storage bins are scattered about the home. The cat is unhappy about this state of clutter. Ice hugs my doorstep. The cat doesn’t care because she lives her life indoors, safe and snug. Snow blankets my husband’s car because I park under covered parking like the snowflake I am. (I’m okay with this; so is the husband; I love him; how many semicolons are too many?)

None of this has anything to do with this week’s prompt, but I hope you enjoy it anyway…

I work in the stomach of a teenage boy.

P.S. Yes, I’m taking the tree down this weekend.

Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! I’ve worked in some office environments whose inhabitants bragged about how often and how big they ate. “This office runs on food,” they would say with a gleam in their eyes. Where I (happily) work now? More food motivated than a pack of hound dogs.

A mass instant message was just sent to everyone in the building and in half a heartbeat, the chairs around me emptied as already-well-fed adults stampeded to the site of the free food. Mind you, no one even had to say exactly what kind of food is available; just that it’s free, plentiful and there for the taking.

I love where I work. I don’t partake because I’m a bit of germaphobe about communal food, but I love the good spirit.

And now, this week’s prompt…

It smelled, well, wrong.

Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! One of my goals this year has been borrowing more books from my local library than buying books from anywhere that sells them. And I’ve done pretty well. One of my favorite things about borrowing books is finding someone else’s random bookmark still in the pages. Coasters, cards, receipts and the occasional printed copy of an email.

Which bring us to this week’s prompt…

You find a letter to Santa in a library book you just borrowed. What does it say? What do you do?

Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! Next week is Thanksgiving here in the U.S. Which means everyone and their parrot is chiming “be thankful” and “count your blessings” and instructing everyone else to list everything for which they’re thankful. I’m all for gratitude. I also think that an important aspect of gratitude gets lost in the shuffle: gratitude to ourselves.

Seriously, when was the last time you told yourself “thank you” for being the amazing person you are? (I’m assuming.) Or for doing that super-cool thing you did? Or for getting yourself through a tough time? Or for helping someone who didn’t say thank you for whatever reason?

Small things or large, take a moment to thank yourself for getting yourself this far in life. Because that’s no tiny undertaking.

On to this week’s prompt…

Write a Thank You letter to yourself.

Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt FridayLast Friday was my husband’s birthday. (Yay!) As the birthday boy requested, we went to the local casino buffet…only to discover it was closed for remodel. (Boooooooooooooo!) So I stuffed him full of tacos and cocktails. (Yay!) I stuck to soda because I was driving. (Yay for safety.)

Really, it was an emotional roller coaster.

On to this week’s prompt…

What lives under here? And how did that come to be?
