Welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday. Yup, starting these again. Keeps me coming back to the keyboard, and hopefully helping you keep the creativity flowing.

Writing prompts help me stay thoughtful and out of my head, even when they do nothing more than give me something to disagree with. No, I don’t wanna write about that. I wanna write about this.

Hopefully, they help you, too, even if in your own way.

Ready? Grab your favorite pen (or keyboard). Forth we shall sally.

1: why did I read that? now what?

You stumble on an ancient library beneath your city. Write an 800-word story about exploring the ruins and finding a dusty old book with a publication date that’s 100 years into the future. And you’re transported there the moment you finish reading it.

Really? Like you wouldn’t read it? I sure would.

Tell the story of your new world, how (if) you get back, and what happens to the book itself.

Wizards are optional.

2: why this roommate?

You’ve just moved into a new apartment and your roommate turns out to be the stuff of legends. Write an 800-word story about why. And how you get along because you’ve both signed the lease and are stuck with each other for at least a year.

Differences? Similarities? Common ground? Or does this person just go bump in the night?

Bonus points for zebras, underground portals and using the word eggs at least five times.

Happy writing and have fun with it.

Until next time,
Ducky

Meet my legendary roommate, Henwen. Fluffy belly and judgement come standard. And yes, I’ll use any excuse to post a picture of my cat. #myblog
