Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! Sometimes I wonder if the work I do makes any difference. I’ve never won an a copywriting or advertising award. Most of my efforts support other people’s efforts. So far, I have nothing to do with the fancy ads my company runs; the ones that were recently launched to a resounding round of “oooooohsss” and “aaaahhhhhhs.”

My function is one of service, not glamour. And while I like being of service, everyone needs a cookie now and then. Yup, I’ve been having a right nice little pity party.

But then someone said something that resonated. “While others are off chasing gold stars, you’re helping the business.

And that gave me a boost. Even more so since it was my boss who said it—during my performance review. (She loves me, by the way; yay!) Because what I do is fundamental work. The necessary work. I create what the business needs to grow. Internal communications, external marketing collateral, branding, standardization, ideation, creativity..bread-and-butter work keeps a business running.

Even when others are chasing glory (and I hope they do well because there’s nothing wrong with that), there are those of us who build foundations. There’s a good amount of pride in that.

So, on to this week’s writing prompt.

Human civilization is over, and pandas inherit the earth.
What does the new world order look like?

Bonus points for using “ice cream,” “slippers” and “perdition.”

Bonus points are valid only for self esteem and bragging rights. Not valid for monetary prizes or any tangible goodie here, with any merchant or anywhere on the planet, real or imagined. Non-transferrable. Never expires.

Enjoy!

It’s so cool when someone comes along and makes you feel good like that–you deserve it for being the supportive piece that allows everything else to stand up as well. I love your prompt–all I can see are pandas rolling merrily down lush green hillsides while all of humanity is in perdition, a place where all the ice cream melts onto their slippers:-)

Thank you! That means a lot; it really does.

I love your version of the new world order. Love. It. So. Much!
