Hello and welcome back to Writing Prompt Friday! (I really enjoy doing this series; I hope you’re having fun with it, too.)

Last week I finished a book about demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, and in that book, they explained that the first stage of a demon infestation includes sounds of barking, scratching, knocks and thumps, and that it also includes foul-smelling odors. For several days before reading about that, I’d been hearing barking, scratching, knocks and thumps, and smelling a foul odor in one particular spot in my home.

For a hot moment, I was concerned because I’m a writer with an active imagination and I’d been having a crappy week so why not think there’s a demon in my home? Maybe it could do something about the hornet’s next by the door.

Turns out my upstairs neighbor got a puppy, and I needed to take out the trash. Crisis averted.

Now, on to this week’s writing prompt…

Unicorn mermaids versus cotton candy ninjas.

Remember: 500 words at least. Bonus points if you take out the trash first.
